As we exited for the Christmas holidays, Vice President of Operations Wayne Wells turned in his keys to the building since his retirement journey now begins.

Since beginning his tenure with Brevard Achievement Center in 1998 as a Financial Analyst, Wayne truly excelled in every aspect of our mission – and his leadership was recognized early on. From the Finance department Wayne was promoted to a manager in what was then Employment Services and Operations. An increase in government contracts led BAC to split the one department into two and create the Vice President of Operations position in 2000.

In the 18 years that followed, Wayne grew his team from two coordinators to a a department of approximately 25. His leadership also created over 340 jobs for people with disabilities and that number does not include the additional 40 added this year thanks to BAC’s partnership with USSSA.

A man of few words, Wayne never boasted about the substantial contract growth he oversaw, but complimented his team for their efforts at every turn. Which attests to his heartfelt attitude that he is here on this Earth to help people be successful no matter where life takes him.

Wayne certainly has earned his second retirement and plans to actually relax this time around. Playing tennis, woodworking and spending more time with his five grandchildren are on the agenda he says. We think that sounds like a plan.
