A Life of Purpose, A Legacy of Kindness

For Alpha Denefield, helping others has never been just a job, it has been a calling. For 16 years in Gainesville, Florida, she led training and learning programs for individuals with disabilities, empowering them with life skills, confidence, and independence. That work shaped her sense of purpose and continues to define her journey today.

When Alpha returned to her hometown, she brought that same passion to BAC, joining the Enclave program as a Lead under the guidance of her mentor, Rich. There, she supported individuals with significant disabilities by teaching practical, transferable skills that foster independence both in daily life and in the workplace. Whether guiding teams at local businesses or building confidence in new environments, Alpha led with compassion, patience, and respect. Her impact was immediate, not only on the individuals she served, but also on her coworkers, who quickly became an important support system in her life.

During a challenging period of illness, Alpha experienced firsthand the power of that support. “I don’t have sisters or brothers, and I looked forward to coming to work,” she shared. “Because every day somebody would walk up to me and ask, ‘How are you feeling today?’ I’m serious, I’ll never forget that.” Those moments of care left a lasting impression, reinforcing her belief in the importance of kindness and connection in the workplace.

Alpha’s journey continued at Kennedy Space Center, where she contributed to BAC’s AbilityOne contract. She worked in the Orion clean room, playing a role in maintaining the environment that supports critical space exploration efforts. For Alpha, the experience was both meaningful and fulfilling. She appreciated the structure, clarity, and teamwork that allowed her to succeed in such a high-stakes setting.

Today, Alpha serves on the custodial team at KSC, where her dedication, strong work ethic, and positive spirit shine each day. She is known for her willingness to help others, her steady optimism, and her genuine care for those around her. Even as she reflects on the physical challenges that come with time, her commitment to her work and her team remains unwavering.

Alpha’s story is one of resilience, service, and heart. Through every chapter, she has remained devoted to uplifting others while navigating her own challenges with quiet strength and grace. Her journey reflects the very best of workforce excellence, not just in performance, but in character.
