Over 20 Brevard Achievement Center (BAC) jobs need good candidates – fast. That’s why on Tuesday, June 26 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. the agency plans to hold a Job Fair at the Goodwill Connection Center in West Melbourne.
Jobs For People With Disabilities
Individuals with qualifying disabilities who apply at the Job Fair are considered first for all open positions. Jobs are located at Brevard-based federal contract sites where BAC is contracted to provide various business services. Custodial, commissary, dining and facilities jobs make up the bulk of the open positions that need to be filled.
“Job Fairs offer qualifying candidates the opportunity to be interviewed on-the-spot,” said Josephine (Jo) Hughes, vice president of Human Resources. “And who wouldn’t want to walk away with a job?”
Attendees need to dress professionally and carry copies of their resume for the greatest success.
May’s unemployment rate for people with disabilities was 7% compared to 3.4% for those without, according to the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Disability Employment Policy (ODEP). Employing people with disabilities is a primary focus of the Center.
“Many employment opportunities are available for people with disabilities through BAC,” said Josephine (Jo) Hughes, vice president of Human Resources. “Accommodations also are offered so employees succeed on the job. ”
While benefits vary from contract to contract some available perks include a 401k plan; health, life, dental and vision insurance; short-term disability; income plan and paid leave benefits (such as vacation and holidays).
