Art Programs

At BAC, we believe every student deserves the opportunity to express their creativity and be celebrated for their unique talents. Through our annual arts programs and events, Brevard Public Schools ESE students are invited to participate in engaging, inclusive creative experiences that build confidence, encourage self-expression, and foster connection. From our Holiday Card Art Contest to hands-on artistic opportunities guided by experienced instructors and community partners, students gain a platform to showcase their imagination while teachers receive meaningful resources and recognition for supporting their students’ growth. We invite educators, students, and families to join us in creating inspiring experiences where every artist’s voice can shine.

The Performing Arts Showcase, part of BAC’s Arts Program, is held each year at the King Center in Melbourne, Florida. This inclusive initiative brings a professional visiting artist—provided by BAC Arts—into Brevard Public Schools to work with Exceptional Student Education (ESE) students from elementary through high school. The program also includes adults in BAC’s Adult Day Training (ADT) program and individuals from local private schools and other programs serving individuals with disabilities.

Over the course of eight weeks, the visiting artist leads weekly one-hour sessions, guiding participants in a performance that may include elements of dance, music, and theater. The program culminates in a one-hour, live performance at the King Center, where students and adults take the stage to share their work with an audience.

The showcase is free and open to the public, with funding provided through individual donations, sponsors, and grants.

BAC’s Color in Motion Arts Festival is an inclusive celebration of creativity, self-expression, and community engagement for students of all abilities. Hosted at the Brevard Zoo, the festival combines interactive art experiences, hands-on activities, and the excitement of exploring the zoo in a welcoming and supportive environment. In preparation for the event, participating classrooms receive virtual art instruction videos along with art supply kits that allow students to follow guided lessons and create artwork in their own classrooms before attending the festival.

As part of the program, each classroom also collaborates on a special group art project that is displayed during the festival, giving students the opportunity to showcase their creativity and celebrate their accomplishments with peers, teachers, and families. The event provides meaningful opportunities for artistic exploration while encouraging confidence, collaboration, and inclusion. Through the support of community partners, donors, sponsors, and volunteers, BAC is able to provide these enriching experiences at no cost to participating students, educators, or chaperones.
