Santa has been packing his sleigh with lots of goodies for our artists with disabilities at Cogswell Street Studio, the art program of Brevard Achievement Center (BAC) and for elementary, middle and high school students in Brevard Public Schools participating in Very Special Arts-Brevard (VSA-Brevard).
At the Cocoa Village Holiday Arts and Crafts Fair held the weekend of December 7 and 8, sales of holiday items, fused glass pieces and pottery put a record total of $2,800 in Cogswell Street Studio’s stocking. Monies raised throughout the year at local arts and crafts fairs fund visiting artists at the Studio, as well as art supplies and other needed materials.
And for children participating in VSA-Brevard, the annual Holiday Card Contest capped off a creative and festive season. Proving hard to judge once again, of the 13 magical drawings entered in the contest, three winners emerged. The 2013 winners were: First Place, Jade T. of Westside Elementary in Palm Bay – teacher, Stacey MacDonald; Second Place, Zackary A. of Enterprise Elementary in Cocoa – teacher, Jessica David-King; and, Third Place, Gianna I. of Westside Elementary – teacher, Stacey MacDonald. Jade’s design of a joyous snowflake will be featured on the law firm of Moletteire Injury Law’s 2013 holiday card. VSA-Brevard would like to express its sincerest thanks to Moletteire Injury Law for sponsoring the contest over the past 16 years. Congratulations to all!
The New Year promises to bring even more artistic expression from BAC’s artists with disabilities so be on the lookout for information about what’s coming in 2014.
Have a save and happy holiday season!
