Employee Spotlight:
Joshua McKenzie – Resilience in Action
Joshua McKenzie’s story is one of steady growth, determination, and discovering confidence through opportunity and support.
After moving from New Jersey to Florida, Joshua attended Melbourne Central Catholic High School, where adjusting to a new environment initially proved challenging. Quiet and reserved, he took time to find his footing—but those early challenges became the foundation of his resilience.
Joshua’s journey with BAC began in 2019 when he joined a pilot youth coding program in partnership with Codecraft Works. Designed for students on the autism spectrum and with learning disabilities, the program introduced him to real-world technology skills. Joshua was assigned to BAC’s Director of Community Relations, Keri Goff, for the project and contributed to the BAC website, learned JavaScript, and completed Google Analytics training, earning his certification with flying colors. “I feel like I’ve accomplished a whole lot,” he shared at the time. The pilot later evolved into BAC’s LaunchIT Program, with Joshua emerging as one of its early success stories.
Building on that momentum, Joshua enrolled at Beacon College, a school specializing in learning disabilities. Surrounded by peers with similar experiences, he thrived academically and personally, earning a bachelor’s degree in computer information systems and gaining newfound confidence.

In 2025, Joshua took an exciting step forward by joining BAC as a Customer Service Representative through the Employee Transition Services (ETS) program, supported by Assistant Manager Keiara Pusey. From day one, Joshua demonstrated dedication as he progressed through the rigorous four-part training program: book/knowledge training, systems training, Right-Seat-Ride (RSR), and productivity training.
When challenges arose during the final phase, Joshua refused to give up. With support from Keiara, his leadership team, and his family, training strategies were adapted to match his learning style. The results were remarkable, Joshua returned to RSR, regained his certification, and completed productivity training as one of the top three performers in the program’s history.
Today, Joshua balances work with family life, celebrates milestones like earning his driver’s license and car, and continues to grow in his role. “I get to help people, build my skills, and learn something new every day,” he says—proof that persistence, paired with support, makes all the difference.
