Collage Project

Supplies Needed

• WATERCOLOR PAINTS, WATERCOLOR PAPER AND BRUSHES
• SALT, RUBBING ALCOHOL (OPTIONAL)
• WATER, CUPS, AND PAPER TOWELS AND/OR RAGS
• HEART TRACER, GLUE, SCISSORS
• OLD NEWSPRINT, SCRAPBOOK PAPER, MAGAZINES FOR CUTTING OUT HEARTS AND LETTERS
• PAINT SMOCK OR OLD SHIRT OR APRON (SOME COLORS MAY STAIN)
• COVER FOR WORKSPACE

Project Instructions

1. Prep the workspace to protect from paint. Some colors my stain surface and clothes.
2. Wet the watercolors and watercolor paper for your background.
3. Select your watercolor technique and apply to watercolor paper.
4. Cut out your heart(s) while your painting dries.
5. Once painting is dry, glue heart(s) onto it.
6. You can apply watercolor paint to the heart(s) if you like.
7. Next, decide on a positive word to put over the heart. Some ideas are LOVE, HAPPY, PEACE, KINDNESS, GRATEFUL, FOLLOW YOUR HEART, ETC.
8. Cut out letters from magazine or write out your own letters to spell your word with a marker. You can also choose a fancy font on the computer to type and print out your word.
9. Once your heart(s) is dry, glue on your positive word.
10. Admire your piece of art that YOU created!!
11. OPTIONAL: Take a picture of you and your work or take a picture whole class together with their artwork. Upload all pictures to your Google Drive. Let us know what you think of this activity. Lsorensen@bacemploy.com
